1. Based on the theories you have learnt about teaching speaking to young learners, what is your firstly consideration on teaching them ?
-My first consideration in teaching speaking to young learners is my mastery as a teacher in English. Because, the teacher is the most important figure that will be emulated by his students. Even if the teacher does not speak English, it will be difficult for young students to improve their ability to speak English. In addition to mastering English, I will also provide a fun way of learning for them so that later they will get not only a sense of comfort, but also with a sense of comfort in learning that their ability to speak little by little will increase.
2. Why can speaking be integrated with listening activities ?
-If likened to a baby's growth cycle, then the first thing that can be done is to continue listening to imitate what he has heard through the words (speaking). As we become more accustomed to listening to English conversation, the brain unconsciously also records how the correct pronunciation in English. We don't need to be too difficult anymore in learning pronunciation in English to find out how to pronounce it,we just need to practice and continue to accustom our tongue to speaking in English. That is the reason why speaking and listening have strong integrity.
3. From the practices of teaching to young learners, choose one of them and please tell me about the procedures detail !
- Card Game
Procedures :
In the following game, children describe cartoon character in short oral text that are scaffolded through stem sentences.
1.Prepare a card that already contains pictures of animals, cartoons etc.
2. Make sure the number of cards is enough.
3. The cards that have been arranged are held at chest level and faced with all children, then one of the children is observe to release the picture and then describe it at a meeting of friends. Then continue to the other students until everyone gets a part to help and describe the picture.
