  • Based on the theories you have learnt about teaching speaking to young learners, what Is your firstly consideration on teaching them?

my firstly consideration to teach speaking skills is play with young learners. Children talk while they play. Play is vital and important aspect of a child's development and language is a part of that play. When teaching speaking, it is especially important to select activities which match the objectives of program. The specific techniques and task that i choose should be based on the aims of the program coupled with the learners' stages of development. then i will try to Drills with choral response. Drills aimed at getting learners to practice using the patterns that occur in language.  For example: Children listen and repeat the sentences spoken by the teacher. Teacher: This is a yellow dress. Students: This is a yellow dress Teacher: This is a blue dress Students: This is a blue dress. Choral response is also used when children repeat the lines of a poem or song.
  • Why can speaking be integrated with listening activities?

The listening materials are effective in improving learners' development of speaking skill of English.  use of listening materials in classroom may help students to enhance their learning and speaking. This explanation is supported by Katchen (2003) who discovered that audio-visual materials can be used as a major course material.
Based on the finding, creating a meaningful environment may encourage students to speak.   According to Ardriyati (2010) listening materials can make students become more motivated to learn and communicate in the language. The finding of the study conducted by Istanto (2009) support the use of listening input in class and thus is consistent with the outcome of the current study. The result of more input and listening practice, their speaking skills improve to the upper level. It is a good starting point for them since they will play as model for their future students. Hence, it meets the teaching competence of future curriculum that graduated student teachers should acquire four competencies such as pedagogic, interpersonal, academic, and social competence.
  • From the practices of teaching speaking to young learners, choose one of them and please tell me about the procedures detail.

Role play is very important in teaching speaking because it gives students an opportunity to practice communicating in different social contexts and in different social roles. In addition, it also allows students to be creative and to put themselves in another person's place for a while. According to Stephen D. Hattings based on his observation in the conversation class, the role play would seem to be the ideal activity in which students could use their English creatively and it aims to stimulate a conversation situation in which students might find themselves and give them opportunity to practice and develop their communication skill.
role play is one of the activities to promote speaking. Through role play activities the students learn how to express ideas, opinions, or feeling to others by using words or sounds of articulation.
Role play can improve learners' speaking skills in any situation, and helps learners to interact. As for the shy learners, role play helps by providing a mask, where learners with difficulty in conversation are liberated. In addition, it is fun and most learners will agree that enjoyment leads to better learning. Several reasons for using role play in teaching speaking as follows; Some people are learning English to prepare for specific roles in their lives. It is helpful for these students to have tried out and experimented with the language they will require in the friendly and safe environment of a classroom; Role play helps many shy students by providing them with a mask; Perhaps the most important reason for using role play is that it is fun. In conclusion, role play is a technique which can develops student’s fluency in target language, promotes students to speak or interact with others in the classroom, increases motivation and makes the teaching learning process more enjoyable.
